How Long Does Carpet Take to Dry After Cleaning?
The most common complaint about carpet cleaning has nothing to do with how clean the carpet got — it's that the carpet stayed wet. That's an equipment problem, and it's avoidable.
Normal dry times
Properly extracted carpet is dry to the touch in four to eight hours. Heavily soiled rooms that needed extra passes can run a little longer. If carpet is still noticeably damp a full day later, too much water went in and not enough came back out.
Why rental machines take days
Grocery-store rental units put down nearly as much water as they lift. The suction simply isn't there. That leftover moisture sits in the backing and the pad, which is how carpet ends up smelling worse after a DIY cleaning than before it.

July and August are the slowest drying months of the year here. We plan for it: more extraction passes, air movers where needed, and a recommendation to run your HVAC rather than opening windows on a humid day.
